I Spy with my Little Eye....

Updated: Jul 14, 2022

In Cincinnati, OH where I live, the snow melted a bit over the last few days. Some of my wild friends are venturing out a little more and I am noticing on my walks, how perfectly camouflaged they are! Who do you see? There are 4 critters in the first, 1 in the second and countless in the 3rd and 4th. You get a prize (treat yourself to the first thing that pops into your mind) ;) if you can see the ones in the bottom photos!

These are 3 different types of animals who are native to SW Ohio and their fur, feathers and hair all change colors to be continually camouflaged with their surroundings. Get out there and see who you can find in your own neighborhood. Learn how they adapt their colors and coats to the seasons, if your seasons change. How many different times do they change colors and coats throughout your year? Are their other habits they change with the weather as well?

The Weekly Wonders are meant to be pondered alongside your little ones through exploration and play.

So head outside and follow some animal tracks. Take your magnifying glass and binoculars to look for evidence. Check out relevant library books (my monthly seasonal booklists could be of assistance) and dig in. Let yourself wander and see what can you discover in this big, beautiful world of ours!

When you're finished wondering, wandering, exploring and discovering, bring your findings home to the group (Weave Sunshine FB page) to share the magic with us all. We'd love to see your photos, learn of any special books or other things you found that helped you experience these wonders.
